Welcome to Sofa Scratch Furniture Outlet. I am Sir Clawson Davenport, founder, chief salesperson and occasional sleeper in the display bed. I would like to explain our philosophy, which is simple: every piece of furniture has a story, and in our case the story is told in thread.
What does pre loved mean?
Elsewhere, pre loved means gently used. Here, it means thoroughly loved, by claws, over a period of years, to a point where affection has become texture. Our sofas have not merely been sat on. They have been inspected, reviewed and left with detailed comments along the arms.
Our range
Our showroom offers a full selection of items, all in excellent character:
- Sofas, with scratch patterns by well known artists, none of whom signed
- Armchairs, with seats worn to the exact shape of a loaf
- Footstools, with a rounded top and a firm view of the room
- Bookcases, climbable
- Beds, occupied
Every item is tagged with a short biography, written by the previous owner, who is a cat. Biographies tend to be brief. Most say: ‘Mine.’
Pricing
We price our furniture according to wear. A sofa with minor scratches is described as Lightly Loved. A sofa with major scratches is Deeply Loved. A sofa that has no remaining upholstery is described as Fully Realised, and sells at a premium, because collectors appreciate the honesty.
Visiting the showroom
Please feel free to sit on anything. If it is occupied, please sit next to it. If it is occupied by Ottoman, our mascot, please do not sit at all. He is a large cat and he has views.
Customer service
Our staff are always ready to help. They will answer your questions, offer a view and point out the best features of each piece. They will then lie down on the sofa you are considering, to show how it feels. This is called a Demonstration. It may take up to two hours.
Closing
We are proud of what we offer. Each piece in the showroom has been tested by experts, in the only way that matters. If you find a sofa you love, please let us know. If you find a sofa that loves you back, please let us know that too. It means the cat has already claimed it.
